In an era of smart TVs and Virtual Reality headsets, entertainment norms are quickly changing. Yes, those are great ways to kill time, but, one historic hobby has remained prevalent since 7000 B.C. - drinking alcohol. Fast forward back to modern society, where drinking games are becoming a common group activity at parties, sporting events, and backyard BBQs.
Without further ado, here are the four types of drinking games that ruled 2016:
- Card Games - These include Kings, Pyramid, and F*** The Dealer. For these games, all you need is a standard deck of cards. They are great for large groups of younger people because they are easy to learn and inexpensive to play. Remember, you must be of legal drinking age to play these games, and you should always drink responsibly and know your limits. If you start to feel a little off, take a break and grab some water.
- Outdoor Games - Outdoor games are a great way to warm up in winter and get a tan in summer. Plus, they effectively get people out of the house and away from electronics. We are not saying you’ll burn significant calories playing these games, but it’s better than just sitting on your couch with a beer while watching Full House reruns. Three up and coming outdoor games to keep an eye on in 2017 are Stump, Ring Game, and Kan Jam.
- Tailgate Games - Chances are if you are standing in a parking lot for over fifteen minutes, it’s because you’re pregaming at a sporting event or a concert. The main three tailgating drinking games of twenty-sixteen were Corn Hole (aka Baggo), Ladder Ball, and Washers. The upside of these games is that they are portable, fast-paced, and easy to clean up after. The downside is that you may get hit with bean bags, balls, or metal objects. Again, be smart, and be safe when playing these games. Don’t overdo it - instead of impressing friends, you could end up being the laughing stock of the parking lot.
- Cup Games [The Classics] - Last, but not least, we have the classic duo of drinking games: BEER PONG & FLIP CUP. Will these ever become outdated? We think not. These games have been headlining college parties for decades, and we do not predict the future to be any different. If you are involved in a tournament, grab you and your partner some of our unique retro college bar tees to act as your uniform.
Honorable mentions: Drinking during normal games such as Jenga, Cards Against Humanity, Charades, Guess Who, Connect Four, Battleship, and Dirty Minds.
Moral of the story - Any game can be a drinking game, so get creative. But again, do so responsibly. And, don’t forget, if you need some apparel that will stand out at your next tailgate or frat party, check out our bar t-shirts that are delivered monthly right to your door!
